During the last 30 years, Mark Miller has helped thousands of employees define their retirement goals and objectives. Mark’s primary focus is to help ensure trustees have managed their personal fiduciary liability and that employees are “retirement ready.”  He seeks to accomplish this by assisting with the design and implementation of retirement plans whose provisions and investment alternatives are in the best interest of employees and their beneficiaries.  Likewise, employees are better prepared for their future by participating in Mark’s clearly communicated educational programs.

As an Accredited Investment Fiduciary designee, Mark has been a retirement advisor for Advantage Benefit Service, a health and welfare consulting firm, since 2004.  He was in a similar position with MassMutual—Strategic Financial Group LLP from 1988 to 2004. Prior to entering the retirement arena, Mark was a Senior Vice President of commercial lending with both Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Chase Bank-Houston for the eight years ending in 1988.

Mark is a member of The American Society of Financial Professionals, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and the Houston Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.


Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Baylor University and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Louisiana State University.  In addition, Mark holds the following designations: Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU); Certified Financial Planner (CFP); and Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF).  He also maintains various FINRA securities registrations with Triad Advisors in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas.

An adrenaline junkie, Mark is a passionate snowboarder, scuba diver, boot camp instructor, triathlete, Tough Mudder survivor, and outdoor enthusiast (backpacking/rock climbing). He has been the pianist for his church since its inception in 1996; and he was recently the Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 266. Mark and his wife, Mary Ann, are proud parents of their two sons…both of whom are Eagle Scouts.

Mary Ann Miller
Administrative Assistant


Mary Ann Miller currently works as a non-licensed administrative assistant to Mark Miller and the Houston office of Retirement Benefits Group. She assists with client requests, research projects, and follow-up client contact.

Mary Ann has worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years. Prior to working with RBG, Mary Ann was a Vice President—Private Professional Lending with Chase Bank in downtown Houston.


Mary Ann attended University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a BBA in Finance. She has had a Life, Accident, and Health insurance license in the state of Texas since 2002.

Mary Ann resides in Houston, TX where she and Mark raised their two sons. She enjoys exercising, reading, participating in church activities, traveling, and volunteering in civic opportunities like the Houston Marathon and the Houston Superbowl LI committee.

Chris Lynch

Chris Lynch is Director of Office Operations at Retirement Benefits Group, one of the country’s leading retirement plan consulting firms.  Chris’ primary role is helping clients prepare for retirement, striving to ensure they receive the expertise and support they need to work toward their goals.  He is also responsible for helping determine if plan investments are on track and that clients’ retirement savings are in appropriate funds.  Chris also acts as a liaison between clients and financial institutions to help ensure that all administrative processes and functions are being carried out effectively.

Chris joins Retirement Benefits Group with experience in servicing clients in the life insurance industry, where he worked closely with a career agent from MassMutual.  Before this, Chris worked as Program Coordinator for KW Cares, the non-profit public charity of Keller Williams Realty.  As Program Coordinator, Chris reviewed grant applications from agents and family members throughout Keller Williams Realty to assist with help for medical bills for things such as surgeries and cancer treatment.  He also spearheaded disaster relief efforts for agents their families during harsh events such as Superstorm Sandy.


Chris earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.  He then went on to earn his MBA from the University of Houston.


Chris is an avid sports fan who loves attending sporting events of all types.  Additionally, he enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.

James A. Carmichael is Director of Client Services for Retirement Benefits Group, one of the countries’ leading retirement plan consulting firms. He works with plan sponsors to facilitate the day-to-day operations as well as provide exceptional client services such as research projects, investment reviews, and employee education. James joins our team with a strong background in retirement planning and investing having worked with UBS Financial Services, Invesco Investments, and Oak Point Financial in the past.

Born in Scotland and raised in The Netherlands, James brings unique and diverse intercultural skills which have found to be a valuable asset in today's ever expanding global economy.


James graduated from Bryan College in Tennessee with Dean's Honors while earning bachelor degrees in Business Economics and Administration.

His licenses include Series 6, Series 7, and Series 66. He’s currently pursuing additional insurance licenses.


James resides with his wife Megan, a school teacher at Tomball Intermediate, and Vinny, his well-trained Belgian Malinois. James enjoys staying fit and has been described as a soccer fanatic! He hopes to learn golf this year.
